Customer management
To ensure that the Agency continues to develop, it's crucial to look after the needs of your customers. The customer services policy which you introduce will be looked after on a day-to-day basis by your customer services team, but you'll manage certain client relationships, such as large business customers (commercial and farming) yourself, to ensure they benefit from your specialist knowledge.
Driving business strategy
As you'll be self-employed, you'll need to map out your activities in a business plan. This will form the keystone for the future growth of your Agency. To succeed you should ensure every member of the team is aware of your short-term, medium-term and long-term objectives, so they can help you plan and deliver.
Support other NFU Mutual business streams
As an Agent you'll need to support all of NFU Mutual's diverse business streams. Our range of Life products, NFU Mutual Risk Management Services and Finance streams all provide additional commission earning potential.
Staff management and development
As an employer you'll need to make sure you nurture your team. To help you achieve this, NFU Mutual has a Training and Competence scheme which is in place as part of our commitment to the FSA regulations.
Approved person status
For you to be eligible to sell NFU Mutual's range of insurance, you'll need to become an Approved Person (APER). An APER is a person that the FSA has given its approval to under section 59 of the Financial Services and Markets Act (approval for particular arrangements) for the performance of a controlled function (selling insurance).
